Herb Smith, MPL Corporation, and Kathy J. Clinton, EG&G Technical Services of West Virginia, joined together as conference co-directors.

* The 1998 event was held at the WVU Mountainlair and featured a breakfast address by David C. Hardesty, WVU President.


* Teaming to Win ’98 attracted 380 participants representing 164 businesses from six different states.


* The May 21 afternoon agenda included presentations by Paul E. Frampton, Partner, Bowles, Rice, McDavid, Graff, and Love; Mr. Paul E. Parker III, of Jackson & Kelley; Warren Lee, Senior Auditor, DCAA; Michael J. Rattie of the Defense Contract Management Command, Pittsburgh, PA; and M. Brent Armstrong, U.S. Department Of Energy, Savannah River Operations.


* The conference featured an educational panel that included David C. Hardesty, President, West Virginia University; Dr. Janet Dudley-Eshbach, President, Fairmont State College; Dr. Wayne England, VP for Academic Affains & Provost of Salem-Teikyo University; Alvin Hall, VP for Marketing and Advancement of Wheeling Jesuit University; and Derek Crews, Chairman of the Department of Business at Alderson-Broaddus College.


* An agency forum was presented at the conference and included Rita Bajura, Director, Federal Energy Technology Center; Dr. Albert Munson, Director of the Health Effects Laboratory Division, NIOSH; Joseph P. Allen, Director, NTTC; Dr. Louis Blazy, Director, NASA IV&V Facility; and Gary Gomolak, Contract Administration Manager, CJIS Division, FBI.

* Corporate sponsorship of the conference’s major components was instituted for the first time in the conference’s history. Huntington Banks sponsored the pre-conference reception at the Erikson Alumni Center, One Valley Bank funded the conference breakfast, and the WVHTC Foundation funded conference breaks.


* The Teaming to Win award winners were presented to ProLogic, Inc., Teaming to Win Small Business of the Year; Lockheed Martin, Teaming to Win Large Business of the Year; West Virginia High Technology Consortium Foundation, Teaming to Win Organization of the Year; Nancy Newbold, Teaming Advocate of the Year; and Dave Walker, Spirit of Teaming Award.


* Congressman Alan B. Mollohan delivered the banquet keynote address.
